To Vinny and others who expressed thanks to me... thanks to you all. It
was much appreciated. This was the week from Hell both here and at work
and it helped make things a little more bearable.
Secondly... thanks to Dave Duffner of the Toro list and Trofeoworld who
very generously offered to host us at his site instead of using Chebucto.
Dave also offered some insight into the AOL spam issues. Without breaking
any confidences, it seems to be an infighting thing being targeted at us.
One or more individuals on this list with AOL accounts are intentionally
reporting list traffic as spam to AOL to cause us all grief for reasons
only they know.
That really makes me more sad than mad. Those of you have have been here
for a long time will remember 6-7 years ago there was something that
happened with another group of people who were on this list while also
having their own group that was saying some pretty nasty things about us
here. The ability of people to be two-faced sometimes never ceases to
amaze.
Anyway, here's what I've decided to do:
1. For now, I'm going to keep the list running at Chebucto. That may be
temporary if their other problems related to mail delivery, spam, and
accessibility continue, but in the short term it's the easiest thing to
do.
2. In order to stay here, I will have to unsub all AOL accounts. I intend
to do that next weekend, so consider this notice. If you have another
email provider, subscribe to the list using that. If you'd like a gmail
account, I have 100 invites I can share with anyone who wants one.
3. If the problems continue in spite of the AOL issues going away, I
intend to move the list to a Google group. I have it all set up and have
tested it. It works fine and is a lot easier to administer than this. It
has a lot of advantages including an archive capability. On that, stay
tuned. May never happen, may happen in a few weeks depending on how things
go.
4. Some of you have had trouble reaching me at this address for reasons
that elude me but are likely due to your mail proividers blacklisting
Chebucto. I have a gmail address you can reach me at in those cases:
