md5sum checked OK, burned to DVD-RW
32 bit P4 2.8GHz 2G RAM
readonly=1
/ target pre-formatted
Highlights (things I can remember)
1-instructions for HTTP installation, and installation kernel and initrd too
well hidden to find:
No opportunity to download and install only what will actually be required
and/or tested, wasting space, time and bandwidth.
2-issues.openmandriva did not import my account from qa.mandriva, and on
(repeated) attempting to create an account, claims to send an email to create
account that fails to arrive after many hours.
3-disk space requirements calculation broken
Claims 4.2GB needed without asking me what I want installed. What I want
installed fits in less than half the available space in the 4.8GiB target /
partition. It also claims only 3.9GB available, which makes no sense given
the available 4.8GiB.
4-Crucial options missing from bootloader screen.
Only choices are MBR and exit. Exit aborts entire installation, leaving no
opportunity to set a root password or create users.
5-no opportunity to select minimal install or not install software that will
never be used (e.g. wirel*, libreoff*, *l10n*, non-en locales, grub2, etc)
6-rpm --rebuilddb went into la la land, more than 24 minutes without
finishing (necessitated by needing to Ctrl-C out of endless LOOP trying to
remove unneeded libreoffice*l10n). Killed via reboot. Next try took only
about a minute to run.
7-failure to stop user manager job prevents shutdown/reboot for more than a
minute
8-no om-welcome or any other window auto-opens on initial KDE login
9-attempting package installation with urpmi results in bad signatures for
all packages, even after multiple runs of urpmi.update -a.
10-unreconcilable conflicts trying to install task-printing-canon after
removing task-printing-*
