Hi, i fully understand your concern, but i will not spent time on downgrading plymout to 0.8 version based on hunch. Need hard evidence that 0.8 version works with KMS and nVIDIA and AMD proprietary drivers.
Speaking of plymouth old version please be specific which 0.8 version ?
