Don't wild guessing, just take a look at Calamares code.

If you do not follow calamares development, then you prolly don't know that
behind this project there are more people than behind DrakX (oma,
moondrake,mageia etc).
Second Calamares got adopted by Arch based distros, Fedora and SuSE started
to work on it too. DrakX crap is only adopted by post mandrake forks.
