While you definitely have a point there, I have to disagree because of
ABI stability -- we're stuck with whatever we choose for the 2015.0/3
release for the rest of the major release lifecycle. Given OpenSSL's
history of needing security updates, I'd rather switch to libressl
before having to support something for another year or two.

hmm i'm with rob on this one. it's just another reason for builds to
fail, and I think we should really stop changing stuff now. besides,
patching openssl isn't that frequent (nothing like as mental as bloody
flash player!) and they got more funding after heartbleed, so i think we
should stick with openssl for 2015.
