Hi Cristina,
thanks for your comments well described
sometimes, because my not good English, I can seem grumpy;-)
I just wanted to highlight the importance of vbox as a test machine.
more than 90% of new/old/curious users will test the beta in vbox.
so the expression "vbox issue" should be avoided .... especially as an
excuse.
You make a good point about VBox Luca. Is important for VBox installs to
work smoothly. This partly an important public relations issue. - Ben

Hello,
blocker for me:
- i586 version doesn't boot in vbox and in hardware.
- install dkms modules requires wrong kernel
- plymouth doesn't work(in hardware and in vbox certenly). and as a beta
will be tested 95% in vbox, this will be a very bad impression
Version i586 .iso's well tested on 3 computers and does not boot.
Details in bug report 1585. - Ben
Main concern for me is
- install dkms modules requires wrong kernel
It has been repeatedly reported, for around one week at least. Issues
don't fix them miraculously by themselves nor disappear the same way.
We can live with postponing beta release one week if needed to take
the time for fixing, imho.
+1 - Ben - seems progress is being make here though. It's a lot of
work. - Ben
As for:
- plymouth doesn't work
Plymouth doesn't work since 0.8 -> 0.9.
It was "archived" as a vbox issue -which is not, sorry to say and easy
to verify.
https://issues.openmandriva.org/show_bug.cgi?id=874
As plymouth issue is not going to be fixed in 2 days, our workaround
is to remove it (temporarily): boot in text mode.
You must know that the first impression counts a lot.
Plymouth is the first thing we see while booting a system and it's
broken?? Wow! eager to see the rest then... :/
Believe me, it would not be the best introduction, which all your hard
work deserves!
Plymouth has been disappointing did not know we were considering
removing. That won't look good. I fear it will be bad for public
relations. Reviewers, new people trying, ect, trying to recruit
students, schools, etc. - Ben
- i586 version not booting
What about release x86_64 iso only?
In the ideal world we promised x86_64 and i586 so we provide them. In
our world we are too few people to support a lot of things, at a
certain point one need to make choices.
Survey re i586 support is nearly one year old
https://blog.openmandriva.org/2015/06/i586-we-follow-your-say
"[...]In 1 year we will have another same poll and see how things go[...]"
I request not to have the poll and drop i586. Unless people voting for
yes are ready to join and provide productive contribution.
In my opinion, I'd rather focus more on KDE4 release. That is support
OMLx2 x86_64 and OMLx3 x86_64.
Amazing, I was meditating on this while walking yesterday.
With out more people, including developers and package maintainers and
also more money we simply can't do i586 justice.
We aren't able to do a good enough job and that is hitting us right now.
- Ben - Not happy about that, wish we could but reality is a harsh
mistress. -Ben
Disclaimer:
Please take all this not as criticism or complaint, towards anyone.
Please see it just as point of view trying to help.
I do know that things need time and work, I'm humbly among people who
make their best to contribute.
Thank you for your attention.
+1 - Ben
