I've done many installs (on my desktop) during testing phase and never
once saw this myself. But it must happen on some systems for some
reason. Or is this is this in VBox? I have installed there twice also
without incident.

replace "live" by your user name

The workaround would seem to indicate that Calamares is not setting values is
sddm.conf reliably
