Diego, When the cmk service fails the resulting (passive) services remain in their last known state but show when they've been checked last. That's some kind of root cause analyse feature also used by Nagios itself.
The cmk service is the heart of the monitoring of a host - if it fails repair it and all works well again. :-) Current innovation release of cmk already contains a feature marking services as "stale" if they did not fet a state in a configurable interval...
