Hi Mike,

Thanks for your reply, however I’m not sure if I understand your reply -_- sorry
I already have a ‘GSM Module’ which has been shipped together with an aransec
monitor appliance which also just has Nagios as core and some cheap
user-UNfriendly interface ;)

It’s not to receive SMS but send SMS, SMSTOOLS3 is ?interface? for GSM modules?
Did a quick google and it’s a software package thanks might be really usefull!

I will have a look into this Friday, as I will be back on the office Friday and
will take the module and connect it to a clean linux system for a testrun.

Thanks!

Kind regards,
Dennis

    Hello Dennis,

I use here a Gemalto Centerion EHS6x modem as a standard.

Basically with SMSTOOLS3 you could use a lot of "phone" devices.

So far I tested beside the EHS6x:

Vendor Model Type SW Version Device
Send Receive
    Nokia E50 Telephone 0815 /dev/
Yes No
    Nokia E60 Telephone 0815 /dev/
Yes No
    ZTE MF110 HSPA Modem 0815 /dev/ttyUSB1
Yes Yes
    HUAWEI E1750 HSPA Modem 0815 /dev/ttyUSB0 Yes
No

As you see the main difference is if SMSTOOL is able the fetch the received
SMS. Not sure if this is relevant for you.
For a cheap solution a surfstick like the Huawei might be sufficient.

    Regards

    Mike

    Hi all,

is there someone with any experience with an GSM module? I have a spare
module leftover from a Aransec appliance.
Is there anyone who used such a module on a centos distribution for example?

I know this is not the correct mail list, but I could give it a shot..

    Thanks in advance!

    Kind regards,
