Beautiful!  That used to be me in the Marines (active 1970-74, reserve
1974-76).  Has it been 40 years?!?!?!  I sure don't remember it like most of
the pics.  It was just just grunt work -- very gritty & dirty, with lots of
redneck bigots with little sense of humor.  Add to that the obtuse First
Sergeants from the 1940's (30 years in) incapable of abstract thinking with
only a 5th grade education.

I never saw the sense of humor that one sees nowadays in pics, but then we were
getting out of Vietnam with 50,000+ dead with the stress of possibly going back
over there.  All I ever heard was, "Kill the gooks!"  I don't remember much
laughing or joking at all!  Just stress and anger.  Lots of anger, and almost
every guy had a big chip on his shoulder.  Most of the short-timers were
drafted -- not like today where ALL enlist.

Those not in the military were dieing (sp?) of drug overdoses -- thousands and
thousands -- lots of hairy, ugly, and homely guys with beards and none working
out -- pre Arnold and bodybuilding.  Health was the last concern of those NOT
in the military.  Add promiscuous sex and "free love" promoted by the hippies
in the 60's.  That crossed over to the gay scene in the 70's.

Then, 10-15 years later (the 80's & 90's), 250,000-500,000 dead as a result of
the "free love" with more hate and anger dumped on us from society.  It was a
very hard time -- at least for me -- young kids in their 20's or 30's just
don't get it!  At least there was Disco (1973-1980).

Those pics dredge up and trigger lots of bad memories for me.  Pretty pics but
not realistic for me. Still 1-7 in the 6th, O's losing to Tampa.
