If a St. Patrick's Day hangover were notenough, yesterday's bracket busters on
the first day of the NCAA Men's Basketball round two play might keep you in
bedthis Sunday.  Several of the top teamswent down in flames, while several
brackets which looked great after round onenow look terrible after some bad
calls, bad seeds, and surprises.  Mediocre brackets remained mediocre.  Maybe
the NCAA does bring out the average inall of us...  Unflappable, but depressed
collegebasketball fans can redirect their attention to the NIT Tournament, and
alsothe Women's NCAA tournament, which also started this weekend.
In France: Chasing a first league crownsince 1959, Nice dropped points for a
second consecutive week after drawingagainst Caen last week, and a 1-1 draw
against Nantes yesterday.  Bordeaux moved level on points withfifth-placed
Marseille after yesterday's action, after a comprehensive 5-1 homewin against
Montpellier,  but thatsituation could change today.  Niceremain third in the
standings, four points behind leaders Monaco, who play atCaen on Sunday.
Defending champions Paris Saint-Germain have a one-point leadover Nice ahead of
Sunday's home game against Lyon.  With eight games left this season, Nantes
arein 10th place, 30 points off the pace. Angers put last week's defeat at
Marseille behind themto register their fifth win in six league games with a 3-0
home victory overGuingamp.  Lorient and Nancy both are atrisk of relegation,
but with Lorient's 3-2 win over Nancy yesterday, theirhopes of playing with the
big boys again next year are kept alive.  Today Caen takes an AS Monaco, Paris
Saint-Germainmeets Lyon, and Dijon FCO meets St. Etienne.
We reported yesterday about the India-Australiadogfight in Test Cricket.  Day
four ofthe third test continues today. Australia had an overwhelming lead going
into day three, but India hasovercome that lead in convincing fashion, in what
has proven to be anexhausting match for both teams, but one in which big plays
and big scores havebeen featured.  At Tea break of day four, Australia 451
trails India 503/6 after 188.0overs.  In other words, India lead by 52runs with
4 wickets remaining in the 1st innings.
Cricket phenom Cheteshwar Pujara is beingcredited with a lot of the enthusiasm
and gamesmanship which has allowed thehosts to recover.  In PGA Golf,
Final-roundplay will be held today in the $8.7 million Arnold Palmer
Invitational, playedat Palmer's 7419-yard Bay Hill Club in Orlando, Florida.

his fifth victoryin his last 12 starts.  American CharleyHoffman leads the
