Partly sunny skies to start with a line of lake effect snow to the west. Eventually the lake effect snow moved in for about an hour. Mostly sunny afterwards. Count conducted from the South Lookout. Raptor Observations: Slow in the morning with the lake effect snow cutting off the flight. A slow but steady afternoon flight that mainly consisted of Turkey Vultures, plus ten red-tails and small numbers of other species. Predictions: TOMORROW: Cloudy with periods of rain later. High 41F. Winds ESE at 10-15mph. A good wind direction, though perhaps a bit weaker than would be ideal. Hopefully the conditions will be good enough to get some Accipiters and falcons moving. If those species are moving it could be a decent morning with close looks. Precipitation may slow or stop the flight in the afternoon. Light winds overnight should bring in a new batch of songbirds. FRIDAY: Rain showers early then overcast. High 44F. Winds ESE at 10-15mph. Decent winds but the gloomy conditions may hold back the flight. SATURDAY: Morning showers then cloudy. High 46F. Winds N at 5-10mph. South Lookout. Expect light migration. ======================================================================== Report submitted by David Brown ([email protected] ) Derby Hill Bird Observatory information may be found at: http://onondagaaudubon.com/derby-hill-bird-observatory/ More site information at hawkcount.org: https://hawkcount.org/siteinfo.php?rsite=358 -- New postings to the entire list: [email protected] Subscription configuration instructions: https://it.cornell.edu/lyris/basic-e-list-member-tasks Listowner contact: [email protected] Archives: https://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/maillist.html
