4 Way Stop signs are effective in rural areas where traffic is thin.  In a city with a high volume of traffic such as generated when factories and downtown business release their employees they contribute to the traffic congestion.  A 4 Way Stop intersection will release vehicles at regular intervals. All along the route of the street vehicles whishing to turn onto or pass through cannot get on since their is no break in traffic such as generated by a stop light.  Take a look at S.
