[Winona Online Democracy]

Bill,
Thank you for your comments. Again it reconfirms in my mind one of
the many reasons we have chosen to live in Winona instead of Minneapolis, or
St Cloud or Chicago etc. When the public's concerns are related to the
orientation of several strings of lights or the mix of colors of the bulbs
and not violent crimes, rats, or disease, it's a good thing.
Your input is appreciated, and yes the decoration could be improved.
But is it ridiculous, as you stated, and do we really want people to
consider taking the lights off and redecorating? You made reference to
other decorations showing "the perfect reflection of the Christmas spirit."
If I understand correctly the real Christmas message is about HOPE, LOVE,
PEACE. I suspect that the MESSIAH's manger was probably crooked and dirty,
but it worked.
Bill, I don't know you, but I suspect that you're a good man. If we
do meet, I'll buy you a roll and a coke and we can talk about what a great
place Winona is and how we can make it better.
        Merry Christmas,
        Keith Nelson

Subject: [Winona] O' Slopppy Christmas Tree

[Winona Online Democracy]

As a student of WSU, I was first drawn to Winona by it's outstanding sense
of community. I love how all downtown business have decorated their
establishments in a perfect reflection of the Christmas spirit, making the
downtown a beautiful place to visit.
My only complaint is the large pine tree in the Princess Wenonah Park. It
looks as if it were decorated in quite a hurry. The lights are strung
irregular with a hideous combination of strands of lights.
With that park along the busiest street in Winona, I feel it is important
for it to reflect the rest of the city. I and many others think the tree
looks very ridiculous.
I only hope this can be passed to the proper authority so a re-decoration
may be considered.
Thank you,
Bill Radde
