[Winona Online Democracy]

Thanks to all who attended last evening's election forum. Patti Hurd of
Fair Vote Minnesota discussed instant runoff voting and proportional
representative systems. November election problems have heightened interest
in reform. If you are interested in more information about Fair Vote
Minnesota, visit their website
www.FairVoteMN.org

The next election forum opportunity is Tuesday, April 3,
7 p.m. at the Winona Middle School auditorium. Minnesota Secretary of State
Mary Kiffmeyer and Winona County Auditor Cherie MacLennan will present
information about the strengths and weaknesses of Minnesota voting systems.
They will bring the latest information on reform proposals for the state.
The dialogue will encourage your questions and concerns. We are fortunate
to have this local opportunity to contribute to a healthy voting process in
Minnesota.

As you know, these forums are outgrowths of discussions on online democracy,
and they support our belief that increased knowledge about issues leads to
strengthened citizenship. Event planners are Paul Double, Karen Fawcett,
Lee Luebbe, Duane Peterson, and Dwayne Voegeli.
