[Winona Online Democracy] Dean Lanz has made two points in this discussion that resonate with me. I'm the parent of two Scouts and active in their troop. I've been following the discussion and struggling with my conflicted views on the subject. The Scouts offer a great program for kids ... but I sure wish I had known about the negotiation between the Scouts and the United Way. I would have lobbied the regional Scout organization to sign the United Way non-discrimination statement, regardless of the Scouts' national position. And, I second Dean's suggestion that forum participants also send "letters to the editor," so that their opinions can reach a wider audience.
