[Winona Online Democracy]
Not to re-open old wounds, but i just wanted to share a rather disturbing piece of
mail (snail mail) i received recently.
In an envelope addressed to me with no return address and postmarked in Rochester (all
Winona mail goes through the Rochester office to be postmarked,
doesn't it?) was a "comic book" (for lack of a better definition) entitled "Sin City".
Poorly written and even more poorly illustrated this "comic book: consisted of an
attack on homosexuality and gay rights from an extreme conservative Xian point of view.
Even though a vast majority of the Xian world no longer holds this antiquated view of
homosexuality, what bothered me more than the message was the fact that whoever sent
it was apparently in such a hurry to save my soul that they forgot to put their return
address on the envelope.
Any coward can anonymously mail a religious track to someone they disagree with. At
least the people who have engaged in the discussion surrounding the United
Way's courageous decision here on onlinedemocarcy have had the courage to sign their
names. I doubt if anyone on onlinedemocarcy sent that track to me, but if
anyone who reads this is the culprit know that sending an anonymous anti-gay religious
track on this issue is only going to further my commitment to eradicating the
prejudice and bigotry felt by gay and lesbian members of our society.
