[Winona Online Democracy]
When we buy a tarp, shirt or pair of shoes that is not made in USA we are
part of the problem.
When we import labor to pick our crops we are part of the problem.
When we buy foreign steel and environmentally shut down our mines and mills
we are part of the problem.
When we shop price first we are part of the problem.
When we buy a foreign car just because it is different or foreign we are
part of the problem.
When we vacation out of the country because it costs less we are part of
the problem.
When we buy prescription drugs in Canada we are part of the problem.
When we shop the internet to avoid sales taxes we are part of the problem.
When we barter for goods and services to avoid taxes we are part of the
problem.
When we don't volunteer our time and talent we are part of the problem.
When we, as parents, don't support the efforts of our teachers in the
classroom working with our kids, we are part of the problem.
So the next time you buy a cheap blue tarp, a sweater or drive to LaCrosse
to shop or for medical reasons remember you are part of the problem and
more important you may have caused some worker in Winona to lose a benefit,
a job, not pay local taxes or have quality "local" health care.
It is the buyers who control the ball game not the sellers.
What goes around comes around!
