[Winona Online Democracy] Greetings, You may have seen the article in this past weekend's Winona Post about a local effort to convert the Old Middle School Auditorium into a performing and visual arts space for the community. The idea is to create a place where local and regional artists can perform, develop and display their works. It would also be a place where local Community Theatre and other arts groups could perform. In addition, space in the building could be used by other non-arts community groups for their programs. This is a great opportunity for Winona and our region because: * It would provide a needed venue for professional artists in the region * It would provide a space for local community organizations to meet and perform * It would have a positive economic/tourism impact on the community * It would restore a performance space that is a rich part of Winona's past.
