[Winona Online Democracy]
I have noticed several comments in the newspapers and now here protesting the right of college students to vote in local elections. I would like to remind people that you do not need to own property in a city in order to be able to vote. There are many other groups of people who would not be eligible to vote if this were the case, including seniors living in apartments, assisted living and rest homes. The eligibility requirements to vote in Minnesota are: 1. Be a US citizen; 2. Be at least 18 years of age; 3. Live in MN for at least 20 days prior to the day of an election; 4. Not have one's civil rights taken away (i.e. be a convicted felon or under legal guardianship) Monica Hennessy Mohan -----Original Message----- From: joni angst [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, November 16, 2001 1:50 PM To: Winona Subject: [Winona] RE- COUNT [Winona Online Democracy] Noticed people couldn`t find a subject for discussion. How about a complete re-vote on referendum now that irregularities are starting to surface. I would suggest a date when the college`s are on break so those that vote are getting to pay.
