[Winona Online Democracy]

It's too bad they couldn't run the rails right down Hwy 61 in the median
without blocking the beauty of the bluffs. There aren't as many
intersections to deal with that way (compared to going through town), and
assuming there's a highway planned to cut across near the wetlands on the
east/south side of town to access the new office development center, maybe
that could be modified to make it easier for rail traffic. I think someone
else raised this earlier. Does anyone know if this is not an option?

While I would prefer the solution that Jim Galewski described in his
editorial, it seems like this would be a better option than running it
through the center of town.

You know, I think about how many more people take part in these online
discussions, if only as lurkers, than show up for public meetings. Just
another note to say that I think online democracy is working. Will it
effect change in local government decisions? May be.
