*Position JAVA/Hibernate Senior Developer***
*Location: Philadelphia Pennsylvania. *
*Assignment: 6 month engagement starting in Mid November*
*Client’s current system:*
- Currently running Google Web Toolkit (web presentation Layer) and DB2 at
the backend
- Using Java for application logic and Hibernate/Spring for ORM and Data
Access
- Integration provided by Websphere Message Broker version 6.02
- PERL Scripts are also used for (batch) transformation and routing of
portions of data (legacy scripts and badly documented)
- Applications running on JBOSS Application Servers (not clustered)
- All Web Services are SOAP/HTTP
- A data warehouse is in place (the Websphere Message Broker abstracts the
call to the Data Warehouse and Operational Systems)
-Load Balancing provided by CSS 11500 from CISCO
-Security is mostly SSL
-Code Management using Subversion
-Project management methodology – Agile (using Team Forge) – 3 week sprints
Problems with the current system
-Bad, poor documentation of PERL components of the application (desire to
get rid of PERL)
-Google Web Toolkit (GWT) seems to work well but has latency issues.
Advantage is that it standardizes on Java (no need to learn Javascript, HTML
– it is generated by GWT). Disadvantage is that the client does not have
much expertise with it.
-Possible poor design of Data Model and poor design of SQL Queries causing
performance issues
Looking for
-Moving towards a standard architecture and development framework for the
application (for current and future releases)
-Making a decision on whether to continue with GWT or investigate using JSF
-Assistance with projects (scoped deliverables) and focus areas (e.g.
performance improvement, technology direction etc.)
*Laundry list of candidate qualifications:*
Excellent conceptual and design skills
- Experience and expertise in:
o Java/J2EE Development
o Spring/Hibernate Framework
o Javascript and HTML
o Websphere Message Broker
o SQL Queries
o JBOSS Application Server
- Web Development
