>What else are they going to do? "Hey give money?" That never works.

You would be surprised about well that will actually work. Ask Sara Mooney
(formerly Hart) the ARC Charities for the SW about how much her charities
have raised once she announced that any region could participate, you could
donate money online and earn regional prestige.

The Ascension War stuff really only gets money from the people going to the
convention. If you aren't going, why donate? Yes it is for a good cause but
you can also donate money on your own or give to local charities. If they
just said that we are trying to raise money for X charity, please donate and
you could earn National prestige (max of 30 prestige per category cap)
people would do it for the chance to get National prestige. Even if you
made it $2 = 1 N instead of the usual 1=1 you would raise more money.
People not going to the con (and therefore could not volunteer to get the
prestige) would participate.

I would like to see ascension in the city actually determined by the kindred
there and not who has the bigger pocket books. Use ascendancy to get people
to pre-reg their characters instead and use status off the sheets to
calculate it out. Set the deadline a week before the event and everyone who
pre-regs their character gets to contribute. That way it actually has some
resemblance to the rules and hopefully will make check in easier (which
everyone likes).

As it is, you are using a charity event which is under the jurisdiction of
the coordinators to determine IC mechanics which is a ST issue. I just
don't feel comfortable with that.
