Initial Committers to the Apache OpenOffice.org are all invited to be on the PPMC. (For subsequently-invited committers it will depend on the invitation made. The practice for podlings is to have all committers who are willing be on the PPMC also.)
Once an Initial Committer has requested their Apache User Name, they achieve ID Pending status (in the PPMC record-keeping). Once the password is confirmed and it becomes usable, it is time to join the PPMC. The way to begin participation in the PPMC is to subscribe to ooo-priv...@incubator.apache.org. The list moderator will check and activate your subscription. That's it! The way to decline to participate in the PPMC (after you are set up as a committer), is to let us know that by sending a message to ooo-priv...@incubator.apache.org so we won't worry about reminding you, wondering whether you are going to subscribe, etc. - Dennis
