When you have problems with document recovery please edit the following 
file and delete the respective items for the affected files (may differ 
on Windows):

/home/<user>/.openoffice.org/3/user/registry/data/org/openoffice/Office/Recovery.xcu

Please note: This "survives" a reinstall because the user installation 
is not deleted.
