I set the AutoCorrect Options to replace "straight" quotes with “smart” quotes.
1. Format > AutoCorrect > While Typing works correctly. It applies smart quotes
as I type and changes nothing else.
2; Format > AutoCorrect > Apply (with While Typing unchecked) either does
nothing, or else "changes" quote marks (as expected) and alters formats and
styles.
