UTF-8 in the file names is likely not understood on Windows, with or without the Unioode Extra Fields. I didn't think that is the problem, however, because the tar.gz was decoded by WinZip without complaint. To be certain, I instructed WinZip to extract the tar it was showing me into a non-temporary folder. That concluded quietly without any report from WinZip. The root folder aoo-3.4.1\ was successfully extracted with 66,365 files in 6,935 folders.
