I have often wondered why 64 bit Linux versions have been around for years, but not Windows. But then again, the first 64 bit Linux distros appeared in the mid '90s, on the DEC Alpha, shortly followed by the PowerPC version. And, of course, Linux was first again on the x86_64, well ahead of Windows.
