This is off-topic, but if you create your own channel on YouTube,
and upload a movie, in the end of the upload YouTube will give you an
URL as http://youtu.be/XXXXXXXXXX, which is a redirected URL to
http://wwww.youtube.com/watch?v=XXXXXXXXXX. I think Google does this to
shorten the URL and make it easy to forward in emails and social media.
I thought it is very common and most people know this.
The www.youtube.com versions of the URLs are:
