Some time ago, Igor indicated that Gigabase is faster, but has some 
still unresolved bugs that prevent it from being stable.

I do not know what the development status of Gigabase is, and if the 
bugs affecting Oops have been fixed, or not.  And I've never tested 
Gigabase with Oops, so I don't know how much faster than Berkeley DB it 
might be.
