I would like to see a new 4.2 release before the end of the year, but I am flexible since Mark may not be ready by then. There is not too much new for the *nix 4.2 version of ooRexx except that we now appear to have the memory leak fixed in rxapi. I have been using a patched version on some machines and so far I have seen no crashes, wild CPU usage, or memory problems with rxapi. That alone is worth a new version :-)

Mark,

thank you very much for your update!

Hoping that others of the ooRexx team speak-up, such that it becomes possible to get to see a coarse outline of what kind of developments can be expected in the next six to twelve months.

Best regards,

Hi Rony,
I'm going to skip some of your build up and go straight to the question.

So the question is: what are the next plans about ooRexx by the ooRexx
    team ?

The team as a whole has no next plans, or they would have been discussed on this list. My plan is this: Finish up the ooDialog 4.2.0 enhancements I've started. The bulk of this work is in the documentation. I'm trying to not code new stuff, but there are a few areas that I started, that I want finished. I just committed the majority of the last big thing I had started, tab owner dialogs. With the availability of switchOODialog that people can download from SourceForge, I'm content with the progress of ooDialog and ooRexx. If people want to use the many new ooDialog enhancements, they can use them right now with the 4.1.0 release. When I get ooDialog 4.2.0 at the release state, I will release it as a separate install to an existing ooRexx installation. At that time I will push for an enhancement ooRexx release that will include ooDialog 4.2.0.

When can one expect a new version of ooRexx (there is a 4.1.1 branch
    that contains fixes w.r.t. 4.1.0)?

I will have some free time around Christmas, if I don't have ooDialog 4.2.0 finished by the first of January, then I will push for a bug release at that point. I actually would prefer to have bug releases every 6 months, but I currently lack the time and energy to lobby for that. As for the RFE list, I personally would tackle the bug list before looking at the enhancement list.
