No, there is no compatibility between 5.0.0 and earlier releases. A lot of
the internal changes made in 5.0.0 were aimed at making such compatibility
possible in the future, but they required quite a few changes to the saved
internal format to make that possible.

There is also no compatibility between 32-bit and 64-bit versions.  The
saved image must match the interpreter version used to run it.
