Rick, from your reply, I gather it was your intent to provide compatibility from V5 forward, or am I reading too finely between the lines? Hopefully that was your intent, and even more so, I hope that future maintainers can keep it that way.

It looks like I might have to "insist" that my users use the 32-bit version of ooRexx release 5 to maintain some sort of compatibility.

I have a set of _users_ that are resisting installation of any "permanent" software such as ooRexx, and I'm afraid getting them to reinstall from time to time would be like pulling teeth... <grin> (some of them of no idea what 32-bit or 64-bit mean, and many are still running very old hardware....)
