I fired up a build on unbuntu before I left to walk my dog. It looks like everything but the rexxref built cleanly, and I think the failure there was related to the ulimit problem. When I try to issue the ulimit command you show, I get the following error:
bash: ulimit: open files: cannot modify limit: Operation not permitted. This is using the latest publican install with Fop.
