Well I take this back a little. I was on a Linux system when I wrote it.
The finished attribute should never be changed by the programmer. However,
checking its value is sometimes useful in multi-threaded programs to know
if the on-screen dialog has been closed.
I didn't realize that it was still being used in some of the example
programs. I thought I had cleaned all that up.
I may have to re-think documenting it.
Never-the-less, I recommend not using the attribute.
