Hello,
Way back when, I purchased the IBM ooREXX, as I was writing code for
employers who did NOT want to install ooREXX on everyone's machine, but did
want them to run applications I wrote in REXX. I am again at the same
crossroads, but for a slightly different reason.
As a Final Fantasy XI player (it's a MMORPG), I would like to write for
various players an application using ooREXX to summaries their game play
using the logs created by Windower 4.0. At the same I can't expect them to
install ooREXX; yes, it would be wonderful for them to instal and use
ooREXX, but I doubt they all would and thus a big con for the application
would exist.
Thus I'm asking ... Is it possible to write an ooREXX program for someone
on Windows (at least) and not require them to install ooREXX (e.g. a
runtime).
Also, in a previous posting, I asked a question about reading a file open
by another application for writing. The Windows type and copy see the
data, but the code I included says the file is empty and when I forced it
to read the line, they were null (e.g. lenght(linein(filename)) = 0)
Thanks!
Bert.
