Be carefull here. IP laws are pretty much the same all over the
world (more commonly known as "copy right"). Yes, reverse engineering
is allowed in a lot of countries, but you might get into horrible
troubles if you stand up against a company who wants to protect
its IP.
Or how we say it in german "recht haben und recht bekommen",
litteraly "being right and getting the right". Ie it doesn't
matter much whether you are right or not if a big company
fights a single hobbist, you just don't have the money to
defeat yourself.
