Hi Timothy, list, I've been following this project with great interrest and reading the list archives for a while, and I want to offer my help.
Since I'm not quite sure where I can be of most help I decided to just write you this small email describing my interrests and skills and then we'll see if we can find out where I can do the most good :) I consider myself to be a decent C and C++ programmer, I also have some experience with i386 and m68k asm, but my asm skills are quite rusty (haven't done any asm for something like 12 years or so). I enjoy playing with the Linux kernel and I've done some cleanups, fixes and tiny features over the years (small stuff as you can see: http://linux.bkbits.net:8080/linux-2.6/search/?expr=juhl&search=ChangeSet+comments ), but I've been wanting to get deeper into driver development, and this project sounds like the perfect opportunity to write a fb console driver for the kernel or similar - which is something I can't wait to cut my teeth on :) My smalltime hobby is writing small 2D games for Linux with SDL (http://www.libsdl.org) as well as writing various tools I need for my dayjob. Anything that could speed up operations like SDL_Blit, SDL_Flip, SDL_FillRect, SDL_DisplayYUVOverlay, and AlphaBlending I'd be very interrested in. As my dayjob I work as a systems administrator and maintain a bunch of Linux and AIX servers (I'm pretty useless on Windows though). I'm quite familliar with Apache, Bind, Dhcpd, bash scripting, php, and various other stuff. When it comes to OpenGL and heavy 3D math you guys can easily loose me. If you need some tools written I might be able to help. If you need some stuff setup/maintained on servers I may be able to help. I might be able to help on your software model if there are bits that are non-OpenGL related. When you get to the point of having prototype hardware available I'd be very interrested in trying to help out writing drivers for it - I'd be willing to pay for a prototype of course, but something like $500 + shipping would probably be at the upper limit of what I can pay for it. Well, if there are any other "open jobs" that might fit me, then just let me know :) This is a super cool and much needed project, and if there's any way I can contribute to making it a reality I'll be happy to do so. Kind regards, Jesper Juhl _______________________________________________ Open-graphics mailing list [email protected] http://lists.duskglow.com/mailman/listinfo/open-graphics List service provided by Duskglow Consulting, LLC (www.duskglow.com)
