A very interesting read I most say!

But I am not too keen on strange names like Deca, GrafiOS, and the
others up to this point.

These names makes sense to us, but I don't think the customers get a
kick out of it, or will understand the underlying deep thoughts. To
them it will just be geeky names that doesn't make sense and they
can't remember.

When I read Deca, I think 10.
When I read *****OS, I think "something" and Operating System.

Just think of Free/Open-Source Software is FOSS for short.

So may I suggest animal races as product/IC names?

My first animal of choice would be Chimp.

It sounds a bit like chip, but most importantly a chimp is
intelligent, friendly and open minded you everyone.

These three things represents the product very well I think.

Intelligent: The underlying inner workings of the chip is very
carefully crafted and a lot of consideration have been put in it by
very well educated people.

Friendly: The company behind the product is customers orientated and
service minded and wants what is best for the customers.

Open minded: Open Source =)

Linus choose a penguin because when they sit one the polar ice, they
are in harmony with nature.

Customers can easily relate, understand, and remember animal
behaviors, and they can tell them on to others. Brand reorganization
is taken care of.

Having an anial as product name also have that advantage, that the
picture for the box, commercials and website is almost there.

Imagine if we could ask a zoo to make a smiling chimp hold a graphics
card? =) We live in many different contries, so there is a good
chance.

Some people buy magazines entirely based on the cover picture (think:
picture of hot girl). Who can resist a cute fury chimp that smiles,
because he have an Open Source graphics card? =)

In addition checking for already trademarked names is not necessary.
