Have to agree with Patrick on this. It's really hard to
buy a PC these days that doesn't have onboard sound of
some sort already.

PDA market I don't know about...but there's a headphone
jack on my low end Palm, and I don't recall this being
advertised as something special.

Having worked with some guys who write (open source)
video conferencing software, there is no apparent
advantage to software developers in having sound out
on the graphics card. Video and audio have different
APIs, different paths through the decoders, different
device drivers.
