Remember the context. This is a part number for an IC. Hardware
engineers are used to the idea that a 74HC161A is an upgraded 74HC161.
Also, variable parameters such as temperature range are traditionally coded
at a particular character position in a fixed-length string. To avoid
causing confusion and having to constantly explain ourselves, we should
follow practices traditional in the field wherever there is no compelling
reason to do otherwise.
