Moin,
Acording to the kerneltrap posting, we will be able to sell
OGD1 in about half a year. Which is a very short time period.
But before we can sell OGD1, there need a few things to be
done first:
1) We need both for ogp and traversal some professional
looking websites. A wiki is nice and shows the community
style, but we are trying to sell to companies, not to
joe random hacker.
2) Before any card is sold, we _NEED_ a working, at
least correctly simulating and preliminary tested
PCI interface. Noone is going to buy a PCI card for that
he needs to first write/buy a PCI interface before
he even could think about using it. Also we need
a good way to upgrade the PCI interface in case
a bug is found.
3) We are not using the "industry standard" Xilinx,
thus we have to fight against an initial barrier
until we get some acceptance. IMHO it would be a
good idea to ask Lattice whether they would allow
us to bundle their ispLEVER software (full or demo?)
with the cards we sell. We have one very good argument:
if OGD is a success, then Lattice would get quite some
market share, but therefor we need also design software
at some reasonable price (having modules for synplify and
precision rtl for free is not enough).
BTW: Timothy: you said that there is a version for free
of the Lattice synthesis software. I am not able to
find that, could you provide an url or something?
