Will the ogd be programmed using the standard Lattice tools? If so, I
was wondering if anybody is actually planning on using Linux to
develop for the ogd project. The price difference between the Windows
and Linux versions of ispLEVER is $800. That's probably not much to
an actual hardware manufacturer, but it sort of shocked me.
The software question is relevant. Actel and Xilinx appear to provide
free software for Linux. Altera has free Windows software but it isn't
clear if it is possible to obtain free Linux software -- their site says
that I need to purchase a software subscription for Linux support.
I downloaded and installed on Linux with CrossOver 5 the package for
Windows: "ispLEVER 5.1 Starter". This appears to have installed
properly, but I have problems that someone that has it on Windows could
probably answer:
1. I have JAR files but the requirements don't mention that Java is
required.
2. I didn't get an icon or menu entry so I have no idea how to
start the package.
