Didn't want to look absurd?

Are you kidding? Are you forgetting about the polished silver plated
oxygen-free copper mercury-filled coax speaker wires? The people that
claim to be able to hear the difference between different types of solder?
The people that claim that having a wristwatch with an alarm in the
room will completely spoil the sound?

I'm not sure what it would take to look absurd in the audio world,
maybe 2048 bits sampled at a gigahertz?

Yeah, that's it, a UHF spectrum analyser that can also be used
for high-end audio!

But seriously, a fast A-to-D which could be a 'scope, analyser,
software radio, etc. ... could be a handy device, if it is feasible.
