Hi, my name's Lance Hanlen. I just got here and I want to contribute. I already know where I need to fit in, it's the 3.1 Write Verilog based on specs and design subsection of your planning page.
The bad news is that I've never done this before. I will read through the verilog tutorial on the wiki page, and I will skulk around the mailing list while I am teaching myself, but if anyone can give me any advice regarding where to get information to get myself up to speed and start working on a specific problem, I would be greatful and more productive faster! Any of the following would be a big help: * What kind of setup is recommended for the Verilog development. Is there a preferred combination of "compiler"/simulator, etc., for a given development platform? * Are there any problems that are simple enough for someone just starting out? * Where are the designs? Specs? You can skip the rest, it's just bio, if you're curious. My background is Linux system and network development. I have modified the IJG jpeg libraries for my company's corporate clients, and now everyone wants hardware accelaration. I did some research and found out that's the kind of programming I want to do from now on. My professional task is to purchase a JPEG codec on an FPGA. I secretly want learn how to do this myself but it's not realistic, so if you know anyone who has one, please let me know, my firm is looking for it! However it begins, my task will ultimately be to be to modify and tune hardware accelaration of image and video processing hardware. As I progress, I very much want to contribute to OGP as the alternatives out there are not nice, as I'm sure you know. Thanks again for any help, _______________________________________________ Open-graphics mailing list [email protected] http://lists.duskglow.com/mailman/listinfo/open-graphics List service provided by Duskglow Consulting, LLC (www.duskglow.com)
