Do the current cards on the market really care about these
fixed-frequency monitors ?
It not about fixed freq monitors at all. its about fixed freq monitors
that used a nonstandard mode and dont have ddc.do we want that stuff
that is hard coded in the card? when there are no more non-ddc
monitors we will still have all those headers and switches on the
card. not good.
We certainly don't want a lot of switches on the card.
However, TV sets don't have DDC so we might need some switches as I
suggested. Which I will restate slightly revised (improved I hope)
TV interlaced (NTSC 640x480 or PAL <what ever it is>)
TV progressive (NTSC 640x480 or PAL <what ever it is>)
DDC selected defaulting to VGA 640x480 if no DDC received.
Setting stored in EEPROM
four selections so that is two switches.
50 Hz vertical (PAL if TV)
60 Hz vertical (NTSC if TV)
70 Hz vertical
72 Hz vertical
four selections so that is two switches.
50 or 60 Hz also selects if TV is NTSC or PAL.
EEPROM write enable to store a DDC string entered by user.
So, that is 5 switches. or 1 Hex switch and a single switch for WE.
With a Hex switch we would have some more possibilities.
