That only eliminates the patents held by On2, what
about the other patents (which may be a dozen or more)
that are "violated" by Theora?

It is really impossible to make a codec without
violating patents held by companies you've never
heard of.

If you don't believe me how insane the patent situation
is these days, try to find out how many patents apply
to razor blades. You'll be astonished.
(Hint: it's more than 1000)
