I can recommend siox for that, really nice to work with: http://www.siox.org/ At http://www.siox.org/plugin.html you can download a plugin for gimp 2.2. Just compile or grab the x86 binary, chmod +x it and place it under ~/.gimp-2.2/plug-in/.
