1) Use a mail client that adds the "In-Reply-To" and "References"
fields. Without these, threading doesn't work which is a big
annoyance and makes the whole mailinglist less readable.
2) Do not Top-Post. It goes counter the way how mails are read.
3) Do not type lines longer than 65-75 characters. It is a pain
to line break your mails every time. (Good mail clients have
an auto-linebreak function)
