The thing that finally tanked me turned out to be that the Quake III
demo isn't designed to run on a 64-bit machine.  Of course, the kernel
and GPU can handle the 32-bit executables, but those require 32-bit
OpenGL libraries that don't seem to be installed.

Anyhow, it's over with.  Andy has gotten us the numbers we need.
